College of Arts, Humanities and Social Science/School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences

Full-time: 35 hours per week

Open-ended: permanent

 

 

We are looking for a Programming & Applications Support Officer on a full-time, open-ended basis to provide in-depth support to PPLS students and staff for the specialist computing applications and custom software utilised within the school.

 

The role shall be based within Dugald Stewart Building (Central Campus). Opportunities for discussion on informal hybrid workplace arrangements can be discussed at the time of offer, however please note that some on campus working is required.

 

Your skills and attributes for success: 

 

  • HND or equivalent level of IT technical qualifications and/or relevant experience of technical and or scientific work; or  relevant work experience in a similar environment, demonstrating development and progression in increasingly demanding roles.
  • Proven ability to comprehend and use specialist software applications.
  • Computer programming – Evidence of ability to independently work with users to write specialised software to meet their needs Enter.
  • Experience or knowledge of Programming, especially in Python, JavaScript or MATLAB.
  • Web development – Proven ability to create and maintain web applications.
