This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Education Access team as an Education Access Manager, working across Suffolk to strengthen our system wide response to children and young people who are at risk, or already experiencing a reduced access to education.

Your role  and responsibilities 

Line manage and provide casework supervision to your team who contribute to the support for individual children and young people and their families through their education pathway and/or SEND journey.

Ensure that advice and guidance are of high quality and delivered efficiency and with clarity..

Contribute to the Local Authorities’ response to support children and young people who have been permanently excluded or who are at risk of exclusion. 

Provide appropriate challenge and support to education providers to ensure provision meets the needs of individual children and young people     

 

You will: 

  • model and embody the attributes of ‘The Ideal Worker’ 
  • lead the team to work in a solution orientated way, with children, young people and their families at the heart 
  • promote inclusive practice across the education system and our partners 
  • establish and maintain good working relationships with other professionals within your work and with parents/carers and Local Authority staff 
  • lead the team to respond to the issues that may be affecting the young people’s ability to access education and support them appropriately 
  • monitor, and evaluate the work of the team, maintaining an accurate evidence base to inform ongoing developments and improvements, within your own team and beyond
  • be a member of the Inclusion Strategic Management Team, which contributes to service wide developments. 

  

You will need

  • Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent) and a strong track record of effectively leading and manging a team 
  • experience of working within an education setting (or equivalent), and evidence of leading inclusive practice to bring about positive outcomes for children and young people
  • experience of successfully working with children, young people and families 
  • a strong commitment to social inclusion, equality and diversity 
  • excellent communication skills and be confident when communicating with a wide range of stakeholders 
  • to inspire your team and those you work with to achieve their full potential and be resilient, self-motivated, creative and flexible.

The team   

The Education Access Team will work together across other internal services and external partners to find solutions and to create positive outcomes for those children, young people and their families who, for a range of reasons, are out of education and therefore vulnerable to non-participation, non-engagement and under-achievement.
