Full-time: 35 hours per week

Fixed-term: for 24 months

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our dynamic team at the Roslin Institute, focusing on utilising genome editing technologies to enhance the productivity and welfare of cattle. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about animal genetics and biotechnology, aiming to integrate cutting-edge genomic tools and the outputs of AI-driven approaches to drive forward agricultural innovations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and perform in vitro experiments for genome editing in cattle cells, aiming to modify the expression of genes involved in key phenotypic traits.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate AI and computational methodologies with lab-based experiments.
  • Robustly validate the effects of genomic modifications.
  • Engage with a broad team of computational biologists, genomics experts, and other researchers to share findings and refine experimental approaches.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with genome editing technologies.
  • Strong foundation in molecular biology techniques.

Preferable Skills:

  • Knowledge of animal genetics, particularly in livestock species.
  • Proven track record of relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals.
